Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Exercise individual judgement and initiative in the application of scientific principles, techniques and methods.
• Undertake tasks requiring accuracy and adherence to prescribed methods of scientific analysis, design or computation.
• Calibrate equipment as necessary, ensure the maintenance of all quality accreditations (Singlas, ISO etc).
• Provide accurate and timely data and reports for analysis by stakeholders.
• Assist in the development and /implementation of new test methodologies.
• Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with the relevant quality, workplace safety and test standards, including the application of all relevant MSDS’s.
• Identify non-conformances within the Laboratory Management System.
• Provide sound / reasoned technical advice to internal and external customers.
• Manage customer expectations.
• Update knowledge in emerging technologies, standards and test methods continuously.
• Participate in and contribute to projects and initiatives to implement changes and/or continuous improvements across the business working with other departments in compliance related areas.
• Plan and prioritise work flow to ensure completion of tests within required timelines (work with others)

Requirements

• Min Degree in Science / Applied Science (Chemistry/Applied Chemistry) or equivalent.
• Min 2 years general laboratory experience.
• Applied technical and operational experience in field of expertise.
• Knowledge of chemical/electrical tests pertaining to insulating media & energy sector will be of advantage.
